75 Hard Day 6

This was a challenging day, trying to fit all the activities in one day is challenging but definitely done. I just need to be more aware of what is coming and time it properly.

I ended up doing my reading late at night which I am enjoying but at the same time I think it would be more productive if I do my reading early in the morning, it also will help me be alert earlier rather than start very tired in the morning.

The tiredness from working out is catching up with me as well but I am managing, I wish I could run faster but running every day for 45 min definitely is putting a toll on my body.

Overall I am glad I am creating more content than what I am consuming which I was hoping it would happen.

Here for another day of awesomeness!

75 Hard day 5

Today was a great day, I know I keep talking about water intake but I think I got it down. I was able to spread my water intake nicely and even went out to eat and was able to feel OK at just drinking water where I always had some kind of sweet drink. I will eventually get a sweet drink again but just not now.

I had a few issues come up during the day which made it difficult to complete my tasks in the time I would have liked to. I also have a few meetings tomorrow so I hope I am able to organize my time better to be successful and not feel like I am running from thing to thing.

Finally, I tried to acquire a set of weights to add them to my excercise routine, however, I never heard from the seller. Too bad, I thought, specially right now where all the weight equiptment is so expensive and they were selling a full set for a very reasonable price.

All that to say that I ended up using a routine from David Goggins. I will be posting the video below for you to follow it. It is a full 45 minutes of “basic” exercises but the many repetitions make them hard. I don’t think anyone was able to keep up with David as he flew through the routine as if it was nothing. I must add that David mentioned that it is the routine he does when he doesn’t have any weights and he is at say a hotel so it is perfect for me.

I did probably 50% of the exercises and still was breathing hard throughout it all. If you are able to keep up let me know. I would like to know anyone out there able to complete such a demanding task.

75 Hard day 4

Things are getting better with the water consumption, I was able to finish my water intake before 9 PM which was a win on its own. I am trying to figure out what my next objective will be and also considering how to maximize my diet. I am enjoying what I am eating and actually I have taken more interest on fruits than I had done before so that is a great win win for me and I am looking forward for things to get better. However, I am considering being more rigurous with my diet.

Another side effect that I am enjoying from the challenge is my scheduling, just by the nature of the things I am trying to accomplish on a daily basis it helps me think about my day in avance and actually schedule it if at all possible.

So here for day 4! lets keep moving forward with this challenge.

75 Hard day 3

Today things a little better in regards to the water intake but my schedule was all over the place since I ended up sleeping in an extra hour. It is amazing how much that shifted and modified my schedule. I was able to make it and meet my goals but man it was hard to manage.

I do love this challenge though for the main reason that It helps me schedule most of the things I have to do, I have to think ahead to make sure I am on schedule, also the fact that I can’t move things over to the next day makes this more challenging but also faces us with the reality of how much time we waste.

We are either content creators or consumers, I heard that saying somewhere and stuck with me for many years and I always have been wanting to be a creator more than a consumer and this challenge is offering that. Part of this challenge is for me to create more content and so far I have met my goals. The other great thing about this challenge when it comes to content creation is that I almost look with detail to what I am doing and with what purpose. I do find time to consume content but after a few minutes I catch myself realizing that I could have been using that time to create content so I immediately switch gears to not just consume aimless content but with purpose, meaning, I can either be reading a book or listening to an audiobook that will help me direct my path to the creating content goal.

Another great thing is the water consumption, I am trying to break my water intake by quarters since I have a 32 ounce bottle that I carry around with me. Yeah, never thought I would be one of those people that carry around a bottle but here I am, with my bottle in hand waiting for it to be cosumed in the next opportunity I have. Either after a run or during dinner that water bottle eventually will be emptied.

Well that is my day 3, lets hope for an earlier rise tomorrow and better scheduling.

75 Hard Day 2

Today I was able to confirm that the most difficult thing so far is drinking a gallon of water a day. I always thought I had enough fluids in my boy but I am starting to doubt myself as I try to drink the last 1/2 of a gallon from dinner until I go to bed. I am sure I just need to figure out how to space my water consumption, like start earlier and drink more often.

The other thing that I am finding hard to figure out is the exercises on the session I have at home. I do one session at home and for the other I run for 45 minutes which is not a big deal. The problem is finding what to do during the first 45 minute session when I don’t have that many equipment at home. I may look around for some used equipment now that some gyms are open and more people may be willing to sell at reasonable prices. To think that you pay between 1.50 up to 2.50 per pound at this time it’s insane.

Now the most challenging is coming about, start the challenge during a normal week day, so far my first two days have been a Saturday and a Sunday which are pretty relaxed but I am glad I chose those two days to start the challenge, I have plenty of time to adjust my schedule and the things that I have to do on a weekend, but with the pressure of a weekday somethings may fall off the wagon.

I do wish listening to podcasts was acceptable but it is OK that it is not since it forces me to concentrate on the words written on paper.

75 Hard Day 1

It is only 8 PM and I am tired, I did not sleep well last night so that may be a contributor but also the fact that I started the 75 Hard challenge may have something to do with it. The rules are simple, for the next 75 days you are committing to:

  1. Exercise twice each day for 45 minutes – one must be outdoors.
  2. Drink one gallon of water per day.
  3. Pick a diet and stick to it with absolutely NO CHEAT MEALS and NO ALCOHOL.
  4. Read a minimum of 10 pages every day of a self-development or business book.
  5. Take one progress photo each day

In addition to the 5 pillars of this challenge, I added some of my own which I hope would help me get out of some bad habits. I personally don’t think I will have too much of a challenge with number 1 and 4 and 5, but for sure number 2 and 3 are the ones that I will give me the run for my money. I am halfway on my 3rd 32-ounce bottle of water and I am already dreading the fact that I have to finish this bottle and drink one more.

Andy Frisella is the guy who came up with this challenge and it is interesting that I already knew about him and his brand however I didn’t know he is the one that came up with the idea so good job on marketing without really doing marketing on it.

The way I will be tracking this is with an app called Todoist, I know Andy also created an app for it but the two reasons why I opted not using his app are:

  1. I wanted to track more than the 5 core elements in the challenge
  2. It looks like you have to create an account within the app

I may be wrong about the assumptions listed above but that is what I gathered through the comments in the app store, with Todoist I created a project with recurring tasks for 75 days and I check them off as I complete them for the day.

The main goal is to challenge your mind and, well being the first day and all I am all for it. Let’s challenge my mind!
